Up until a few years ago, I would get sick whenever the seasons would change. I couldn't figure it out, until one day when an HVAC contractor pointed out my filthy air filters. I am embarrassed to say it, but I didn't know that air filters had to be changed at all, and all of that filthy air was circulating through my home. After I changed the air filters and started to take care of my HVAC system, my allergies got a lot better and I didn't feel as sick. 3 Ways To Help Control Your Allergies

If you or someone in your house has problems with allergies, you want to do everything you can to make sure that you aren't suffering from your allergies all the time. There are things that you can do that will help with your allergies and make it easier for you to breathe. 

Air Purifier

One thing you can do is to buy an air purifier. A purifier with a HEPA filter will suck in the dirty air, run it through the filter, and then blow it back out. You can get large air purifiers that will work for several rooms or you can get smaller ones. If you use a smaller purifier, you can put it in your bedroom so that you have cleaner air when you are trying to sleep. You could also move it from room to room, wherever you are. Just be aware if you do that, it will take a while to filter all the allergens out.

Furnace/AC Filters

Another thing you can do is make sure that you have good filters in your furnace and air conditioner. You can get HEPA filters to put in your HVAC system so that allergens aren't being blown throughout your house. You can either get disposable filters that you can just change out and throw away monthly or you can get reusable filters. If you get those, you will have to take them out and wash them regularly. That will save you money, but if you don't care for them they way that they should be, you can end up with filters that don't work as well. 

Heating Ducts

Getting your heating ducts cleaned out can really help control your allergies too. That's because all that dust and those allergens can get caught in your ducts. If you get them cleaned out, the dust and allergens are gotten rid of. On top of not having your allergens blowing around the house, getting rid of dust will help to keep your house cleaner as well.
